Hanoi, April 12, 2025 — In the presence of Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad and Mr. Olivier Brochet – Ambassador of France to Vietnam, Stavian Group and HDF Energy (Hydrogène de France) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the French Embassy in Hanoi. The MoU marks a significant milestone in exploring collaborative opportunities between the two parties on hydrogen-based energy solutions in Vietnam. The signing ceremony is part of a broader agenda during Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin’s official visit to Vietnam, laying the groundwork for the forthcoming visit of the French President in May 2025. This diplomatic event witnessed the participation of various Vietnamese and French enterprises, fostering strengthened bilateral cooperation and economic connectivity between the two nations.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr. Pham Viet Anh, CEO of Stavian Gas, representing Stavian Group, and Mr. Mathieu Geze, Asia-Pacific Director of HDF Energy. The signing ceremony was witnessed by representatives from both sides, along with high-ranking officials from the governments of Vietnam and France.
Under the MoU, Stavian Group and HDF Energy will jointly explore potential applications of hydrogen gas generated during industrial production processes – specifically from Stavian Group’s petrochemical and caustic soda manufacturing plants. The two parties will focus on key projects of Stavian Group, such as the Caustic Soda Plant and other future hydrogen developments across Vietnam. HDF Energy, a leading global player in the hydrogen industry and advanced multi-megawatt (multi-MW) fuel cell technology, will introduce the cutting-edge Hypower technology as part of the collaboration. HyPower infrastructures are multi-MW fuel cell power plants harnessing the potential of low-carbon hydrogen, sourced from hydrogen transportation networks or by-product hydrogen produced by key industries, to generate competitive, dispatchable electricity.
This partnership represents a practical step for Stavian Group in pursuing green energy transition and sustainable development and reaffirms the commitment to responsible industrialization, energy security, and alignment with Vietnam’s national Net-zero goals on clean energy and carbon neutrality.
